Skipper

Who would believe Barbie’s younger sister will soon reach her big 50? To celebrate, Mattel will release a repro doll. she looks cute, almost identical to the 30th Anniversary Porcelain Repro Mattel released in 1994. 20 years later, lots have changed in this world, but Mattel is still making the same thing. (call it Timeless)
her designer said “this is a low-budget doll, low-budget only means low-cost, not necessarily low price. I am guessing her price will be $34.99 to say the least.
I had “knitting pretty” gift set that I purchased at $19.99 when it was on clearance sale, At that time, I was still getting used to the “vintage look” and found the look of Skipper strange. Eventually the set went on eBay, since I failed to fine both Barbie & Skipper “Pretty”.
after seeing the prototype on BarbieCollector.com, I decided to buy a “low price” skipper, and she came home like this:
I have never seen a doll as dirty as she is. she is covered with a thick layer of dirt. cleaning her up is a tough job. but magically, the muddy doll has no scraches on her body and face–I can tell she was well-loved by the child who owned her. the child may be a grandma now, I wonder if she misses her Skipper doll?
its time to leave the history behind and start a new life:
I did not give her a full facial repaint, only repainted her lips, as they have faded away. Now she looks like her baby sister Little Kelly.
she probably would be my one & only Skipper doll. I dont think I’ll start a Skipper collection.
