Happy new year

Posted by helen on December 31, 2010

I’m sure Barbie has not pursued a career as a poetess, neither have I, so we just “brrowed one” from online library to celebrate new year:

“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!”

William Arthur Ward (American dedicated scholar, author, editor, pastor and teacher)

okay, no more Library time, bring up the fun!

the good deals that slipped away…

Posted by helen on December 29, 2010

This is strange, whenever I want a doll, her price goes up like crazy, when I am not watching or bidding, the auction price often ends up incredibaly low. I was thinking of LE PAPILLON Barbie as I love her costumes and I love butterflies, her prices always went up high whenever I wanted to bid on her… once I turned my back on her and guess what I have missed? this doll ended at $24. What a bummer!

Capucine

Posted by helen on December 29, 2010

I have always wanted this doll to be in my silkstone collection,  she is finally here!  I broke “Barbie Diet” rules and snached her up on ebay right after Christmas Day.

Her facial makeup isn’t my favorite, I like her costumes very much, the beadworks on her organza jacket are fantastic,   it is truly a piece of art. I would like to  make a replica someday.

Oh, this doll has a fancy name,  learn English pronunciation here: http://translate.google.com/?hl=en#en|en|capucine%0D%0A and French pronunciation: http://translate.google.com/?hl=en#fr|en|capucine%0D%0A

okay, after readign some painful eBay products reviews, I am writing a review here:
originally priced $179, this doll was aimed to reach its high-end customers. as time goes by, she seems to stand the test.
Like most blond silkstones, this doll has blue eyes, but her eye shadows come with shades of grey & taupe, just a little touch of blue, its a perfect match with her deep red lips.

the early silkstone lingerie dolls have very simple hair styles, Capucine has a braided & swirled updo, its a pretty fancy look if you compare with the simple Ponytails.

besides her elegent updo, her chic costumes is what makes her a true classic lady. A taupe taffeta bustier & a long mermaid skirt in constrasting cream color enchance her perfect hourglass figure, the intricate beadworks on her delicated organza evening jacket prove the fine craftsmanship.

Any jewelleries? she made it simple: a pair of flower-shaped “gold/diamond” earrings is all she needs to dazzle the lads.

A very sophisticated design for sophisticated collectors.

Posted by helen on December 28, 2010

I never warmed up with “the Twilight Saga” dolls, the only one I wanted to  buy is Victoria. b/c she has the “Tango” face mold. after seeing her in the store,  I lost my interests in her, I should wait for another 2 months to see if I truly want her!
