my new “Purchasing Guides”

Posted by helen on January 13, 2014

I made almost no progress since I decided to “declutter”, but I have not purchsed  a single doll since then. so,  things havent gone worse if they are not getting better.

2013 was a crazy year, I bought at least 124 dolls or doll related items, I say “at least”, b/c I just found out dolls like “boater” & “Teacher (repro)” are not recorded in my spreadsheets. who knows what else I forgot.

2014 will be different. doll purchases will be very limited. so here is a new set of rules. lol

I will only buy the dolls that meet all the following terms:

1. both the Market & I love her.

2. discounted 25%  or more

3. one in,  three out. ( I’ll have to sell 3 dolls before I buy a new one)

4. the total  $$$ amount of annual doll spending will be less than $600.

So far, so good. although good deals are everywhere, I did not buy anything, believe or not, Google AD has me tracked, even I am not on a doll site, these doll ADs automatically show up on my screen to allure me—it showed 50th Skipper  Repro was $30 on YoYo (with coupon code), I did not buy her.  I dont love her enough to pay $30.

  1. One in THREE out?!! YIKES!! That is harsh!! I totally understand though, but with the lack of good dolls Mattel has been releasing lately (imho), I haven’t had many issues with buying too many dolls. I did kind of want the Cupid Hostess (whatever her name is), but I saw a irl pix of her and her hair is different so even she may be a pass for me.

yes, 1 in and 3 out. following my rules without exceptions. :D
I dont think I’ll get Cupid’s Kisses unless she goes down to $55. the photos you saw are factory samples that leaked into the market. the production may be better. but she is not a $75 doll.

Don’t be harsh on yourself – the year is still quite new. Healing takes time. We will support you, Helen.
