Star Trek Barbie Dolls

well, I just saw the photos of the 3 Star Trek Barbie Dolls, but I can not relate these dolls to the star trek characters—they are just redressed Barbie & kens.

The costumes are pretty easy to make, the price is so high ($45/each), their fate probably will be like The Batgirl, on Walmart’s clearance shelf for $10.00.

but if you want Mattel to make the dolls look like these movie characters, then, the price will be more than $99/Each. new face molds cost money, right?

Barbie’s year of 2009 really fits my tight budget—I dont have much money for dolls, I dont have much passion for mattel’s new designs, either. Pretty balanced, huh?

Minimum order

This buyer told me, it’s not easy to be a Mattel’s Barbie dealer, as the opening order is $2,500, reorder $1,000.

I wondered what is the minimum quanities on each item. if each item is sold by cases, then, small stores wont want to carry barbie for sure.

atfter KBtoys disappeared, I guess more & more of my Barbies will come from online stores.

Amazon just learned from my local stores: they are selling the Debut AA Barbie $5.00 less than the CC
Debut Barbie AA $39.95
Debut Barbie CC $44.95
I am not sure if it is a mistake that they will make corrections later or they did this on purpose. but, in my local stores, AA is alway $2-$5 less than CC.

I wondered if I should order her now:

50th Anniversary Barbie AA

Mattel tried to keep “the 50th Anniversar Doll” as a big secret, it intrigued collectors’ curiosity & raised high expectations, so when the prototype photo finally released, many people feel disappointed.

I may buy the AA, but I have problems with the gown, too— it’s good for the 1st anniversary, but not for 50th Golden Anniversary. At age 50, Barbie needs to show her Grace, simplicity & sophisication.

I painted this doll last week, so I can make an OOAK version for Barbie’s 50th Golden Anniversary,

Chinese New Year Wishes

Angela said so, Mattel is releasing a series of 12 “Chinese New Year Wishes” Barbies to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year. I have the one from Last year: the Rat. but I have no intention to collect them all. The package desgin is good enough for Zodiac Years, but the doll its self has nothing to do with the Zodiac sign. basically, you can put any doll in that box and call its a lunar new year celebration. besides, they are too kiddy. even its a playline, still, Mattel can do much better than that. but I guess they wont bother.

many people suggest you put Barbie’s head into the hot water to soften the vinyl, then pull off her head

but hot water ruins Barbie’s hair style.

when I need to remove barbie’s head from her body, I put the doll near to my desk lamp, wait for 5 min, the heat from the light bulb (60WT) is enough to soften Barbie’s head, you can then easily pull Barbie’s head off without breaking the neck knot.
