Wrong Flower for Barbie

Have you noticed? the description printed on the back of the “Japanese New Year Barbie” box is right, the new year comes when the plum blossoms burst (Dec-Jan). but the graphic design is so wrong–flowers shown on the package are not plum blossom, but Cherry blossom. Cherry does not blossom until spring comes (March in Japan), 2 or 3 months after Japanese new year. The Graphic desinger certainly didnt pay attention to details.

I love Tarina Tarantina Barbie doll, she has a lovely face and beautiful hair.  I made her  a ruffled polka dots dress.

A lonely Generation Girl

I was browsing in my neighborhood stores, not many Barbie dolls in the stores, many other dolls dominate the shelfs. there are lots 23″ dolls, packaged in tubes, exactly a giant version of Fashion Fever, they are only $14.99.

I found a “Generation girl” Nichelle in Lot-Less, she is priced at $19.99. hmmm… not even one penny less. I dont like her jointed arms. she was released in 1999, I can’t believe the store still has it after a decade!

Many Stores are going out business. “Space for Rent” signs are all over. it makes me sad. I have never really had time to take a close look at my neighborhood, it is a historical place, but I pretty much ignored its beauty.

once Arthur was driving me home after we visited a coworker in a hospital, these beautiful houses and flowers amazed me, I asked “where is this place?” He replied: “this is your backyard!” lol –I looked up at the street numbers, yes, it was the street behind my apartment complex, but I never took a walk here & didnt recognize it.

I wondered if there are still stores that carry dolls I didnt discover. lol –another thing I should thank Barbie–I had many new discoveries in NYC while doing Barbie Hunting. Some places and stores I probably would never go if it’s not for Barbie. think about it, I am a person who dont even go to my “Backyard”!

lost forever

after one week hard work, I am 2 steps away from being ORGANIZED. that’s a exciting thing–but I am pretty upset now, ourworld.cs.com has been shut down early this month, I lost many of my Barbie pictures & “love is…” comic panels. some barbie pics & siggy animations are lost forever since I dont have any copies of them.

and topcities did the same thing, erased all of my files!

Dolly Blahs

keeping your doll collections organized is not the fun part of the collection.

3 days have gone by, I made so little progress in organizing. boxes & boxes of doll cloth, nude dolls & stands drive me crazy. but I have told myself “be patient, be patient!”

the most fun part of collecting is browsing in the store to select dolls, you soak in another world where you can forget all the troubles & issues you have, you dont even feel time passing…

but once these dolls come to home with you, aw, they are actually like babies, need you to be their care-taker.

Today, I received 3 dolls, one of them is Princess of Incas, I have always wanted her but I am bit upset that she has old TNT body & her sun-kissed skin is too redish (okay, that’s sun-burned), there is no way I can find a new bb or mm body to match her face.

one more upsetting thing, I forgot to pay my credit card bill on time, so here comes $39 late charge, Citi bank is crazy!

I Just had a peek on the Plantation Belle doll, well, no surprises & excitments.

Silkstone is a very boring line for me. the similarities among all the faces quickly killed my interests in them. besides, the prices have also raised dramatically, the production qualities and designing concepts dont meet my standards, either. — Preferably Pink™ Barbie® Doll , Toujours Couture™ Barbie® Doll ,  The Shopgirl Barbie® Doll,  The Artist Barbie®  … none of them seems to have the glamour to match its price.  I dont fancy their outfits at all.

 The cold & stiff body is another reason I dont like them.

I am saying Good-Bye to Silktone Dolls, unless some day Mattel comes up with New Face & body sculpts–I dont believe Mattel has such a plan. Silksone is meant to please these who love Barbie’s past and do not want to have any changes :D
