Black tragedy of the ShopGirl

As soon as I opened the box, I knew a “black” tragedy must have happened.  The troble of course is caused by her black suit– I am tooo familar with this kind of fabric:  Color bleedng is inevitable.

remeber? I said I was going to make a Sarah Palin doll, the suit I chose was the one she wore at GOP covention. after the black skirt was made , I was too excited, so I put it on a BB body, 3 days later, black stains were all over the body.  I was too upset to continue the project.–that’s exactly the same fabric the shopgirl’s suit was made from.

Barbie as Cher, Cher as “Goddess of Cockatoo”

if you like Lady of Unicorn, you will be crazy about ths one:

 this may be the rarest “Cockatoo” in the world, it was designed by Bob Mackie exclusively for Children Affected by Aids Foudation (CAAF)’s  Dream Halloween Auction in year 2001, the proud winning bidder paid $14,000 to be able to worship her everyday at home. she sure is one of the most expensive OOAK Barbie dolls!

Barbie: The Empress of Golden Blossom

she appeared very pretty, but I am not sure why she is $50 more than Medusa.

Although Many mistakenly think this is another Japanese Geisha wearing “Kimono”,  her costume design actually was inspired by China’s Golden Era  Tang Dynasty 

Some Collector think the designing idea of this doll was influenced by Chinese Movie ”the Curse of Golden Flower”. That might be true as well.

l do like her. but I am not in rush adding her into my collections.

if you are an OOAKer, you really should search Google or Yahoo  Images for “Tang Costumes”, you will find some fantastic desgins. A friend of mine has suggested that I make Han & Tang costumes for my Barbies, I wish I did.

I noticed all the convention suvenirs are designed for people who love Barbies old look old days. Nothing fall into my favorite list. and you dont see much creativities at all.

I guess I will have plenty time to repaint dolls, isnt it a good thing? maybe by the end of next year, I’d become a fantastic OOAKer.

she looks much better in person, I have no idea why her golden eyeshadows turn into light brown in the photos. it just lost the rich tone of this doll.

Vera Wang™ Bride: The Romanticist Barbie® Doll

I fianlly got to see her at TRU, she is actually a very beautiful doll,  her face paint is pretty enough to meet the “Gold” standards, her hair style is simple yet elegant.  Only her dress doest meet my standard. nylon organza & lace… oh well, not the best quality

FAO has the privilege to carry a “Platinum” vision,  the doll comes with Platinum blond hair. but with 8,900 counterpart “Gold” dark blonde dolls out there, I consider  this ”Platinum” is only 10K

ebay’s complete listings showed The gold label version is only worth $62-$86 at ebay, when BarbieCollector is asking for $150, and Time Square TRU is aking for $189.

by the time I wanted to get her, not only her price went up, she doesnt often appear on eBay anymore.  what a pity, I missed her when someone offered 2 for $5.00.
