New Releases, New Prices
Posted by helen on August 20, 2008
I was browsing through the new sneak peeks & Fall Barbie Catalog, the dolls are so expensive.
I have no clue why “Happy Birthday Midge” is worth $108. Mattel must think Midge’s Fans have now turned into 45, they are now richer & financially secure, they dont need to beg their parents to buy them Midge dolls like when they were kids. Oh, mine!
I still dont know how Mattel sets the price: Platinum Cher for $34.99, then, a simple Show Girl for 79.99–can you find a piece of old-styled Barbie swim suit then sew on some feathers? I can do that –I took some feathers home from last “Accessories The Show” (NYC).

Silkstones have always been more expensive than the regular collector dolls but the prices are just so random now. Remember that the Silkstone in the Pink suit was priced at 99 then they lowered the price to 59. Just goes to show you how random. I’m glad those Gorgeous Greetings dolls aren’t overpriced.

The prices are probably high because they have recently came out, but will hopefully be lower, because I am not going to spend 34.99 on DOW barbies, I am only 16…
